![]() ![]() The range, such as 30-40 mmHg, relates to the lowest compression the stocking will offer (30 mmHg), to the highest (40 mmHg). It’s a complex calculation also used in blood pressure analysis, but for compression hosiery, it simply describes the level of compressive pressure inherent to the stocking. The mm stands for millimeters, and the Hg stands for mercury, from the Latin “hydrargyrum”, originating from the measurement of mercury rising with changes in air pressure. ![]() The pressure levels of compression stockings are measured in mmHg units of measurement. And because the severity and involvement of circulatory dysfunction varies widely from one individual to another, compression hosiery is designed in alternating strengths to better accommodate these differences. ![]() Gradient compression therapy enhances the blood flow to and from extremities, which improves circulation and results in a wealth of benefits for the entire body.Ĭompression therapy also reduces swelling, fatigue, and pain in the limbs. What are the benefits of compression, and how do I know which level is right for me? Due to its strength, it is recommended that you only use this level of compression under a doctor’s supervision. It’s also used following DVT, and for post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). This compression level is often used to prevent DVT and stasis ulcers, and offers effective relief for swelling and fatigue related to pregnancy, and for postsurgical swelling.ģ0-40 mmHg: This stronger level of gradient support is indicated for severe swelling and pain originating from more severe circulatory diseases and disorders including lymphedema, postural/orthostatic hypotension, venous ulcers, varicose veins, and edema. It mitigates minor swelling, fatigue and pain, and is used for milder circulatory involvement from varicose veins, orthostatic and postural hypotension, post-sclerotherapy, spider veins, pregnancy, and for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention.Ģ0-30 mmHg: This is the most frequently used level of pressure, and is indicated for moderate to severe swelling caused by a host of circulatory issues, including edema, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, lymphedema, post-sclerotherapy, hypotension (postural and orthostatic), and superficial thrombophlebitis. Here is a general breakdown:ġ5-20 mmHg: This lighter level of support is indicated for travel, and for those who sit or stand for extended periods of time. The various gradient compression levels available are designed to treat and/or prevent a host of different circulatory concerns, disorders and disease. Understanding compression levels, features, and product benefits Who needs gradient compression stockings? Lighter, graduated compression (15-20 mmHg) offers gentle support for minor circulatory concerns, such as mild swelling or fatigue, while the stronger compression levels (30-40 mmHg) offer a higher gradient for more severe swelling or pain from serious circulatory disorders, including lymphedema and venous ulcers. This compression action encourages blood to flow more freely which results in less swelling, fatigue, and pain in the legs and feet. The level of gradient pressure varies to more specifically suit different types of circulatory disorders, and is measured in mmHg units of pressure. Gradient compression hosiery provides more pressure or tightness at the ankle, with pressure gradually decreasing as it continues up the calf and leg. ![]() Unlike the “support” hose and the dowdy medical “TED” hose of yesteryear, today’s compression hosiery is formulated to offer gradient/graduated compression in attractive, stylish designs. Used by both men and women, compression hosiery reduces swelling and pain in the lower body, and can help treat and prevent a host of circulatory disorders. Does ASOS have brick-and-mortar stores?. ![]() ![]() Where is a memorized delivery style still common? Due to copyright laws and licensing contract agreements (other than scripts that are in the public domain), actors on stage are obligated to memorize the script of the play and perform it verbatim exactly as written. Such contests seem archaic by today’s more casual and somewhat less formal standards. ![]() The essay was memorized and the delivery was judged by 1) the quality of the writing, 2) the accuracy with which it was recited and 3) the precise length of time. ![]() Contestants wrote essays on a given theme, to create a speech at a specific time length (e.g.: three minutes). The Optimists Club (a national organization) used to have a “Oratory” contest for high school students. In the days when elocution was taught, this was a typical approach. The memorized style of speaking is when the manuscript is committed to memory and recited to the audience verbatim (word for word). Make notes on which news items repeat and how closely, or exactly, the phrasing is, even if different personalities are presenting the same item. Watch the local or national 6 p.m., 11 p.m. Those who are not skilled using a teleprompter or manuscript will sound stilted and boring. That is the skill of a good politician, actor, or speaker. Professional writers and policy experts compose the speech and the President delivers it as though he not only wrote it, but made it up on the spot. It has to be more than brilliantly accurate it has to be impeccably phased. The speeches a President gives will often reflect national policy, define international relationships, and the press will scrutinize every syllable. The audience cannot see the projected text. The glass on both sides has the same text, and the speaker looks alternately from one glass to the other as though looking at the audience through the glass. They reflect the text from a monitor on the floor like a periscope. In fact, the teleprompter, used by every President since Reagan, is called a “Presidential Teleprompter.” It is made of two pieces of glass, each flanking the podium. The most regular use of the teleprompter for manuscript delivery is by the U.S. Errors in reporting decrease the credibility of the news organization and the newscaster. Also, the facts and names must be exact and accurate so there is no room for error. In the news- reporting industry, every fraction of a second counts because broadcast time is costly. Why is the manuscript important and in use? Precision. Today, a special teleprompter (working like a periscope) is attached to the camera so the newscaster is looking at the lens while reading. Then paper scrolls, like printed piano rolls were used, especially in Soap Operas. In the old days, the manuscript was hand-lettered on cue cards, which were held next to the camera lens. Who reads the speech to the audience? Answer: Newscasters and television personalities. Today the manuscript style is common, but the paper is gone. ![]() Originally, it was done from the hand-written paper manuscript. The speech is written and the speaker reads it word for word to the audience. The word manuscript is the clue to the style. ![]() ![]() #installed the keyring (think this was superfluous to be honest, but I did it and am including it just in case.) per #get the file - the actual target will definitely change when newer versions come up, I just made sure it matched the version Linux (Debian 9 / 64-bit). #this one library wasn't installed for me ultimately, and I got an error when I ran Rstudio from the command line the first time, so I went back and installed it manually and THEN re-installed Rstudio. #need to install wget to actually get the file first #need to install this next tool "gdebi" to install the downloaded install package. #installing basic R package and the development package.there's more options available bt-dubs. It would be very preferable as with a few h5py lines I can retrieve needed values instead of using libhdf5 from C++ function. I’ve already written the requestData python script that generates an unstructured grid item by reading one of the objects described in the input file by mean of an integer index passed to the script using a SetParameter command associated in the xml file with an IntVectorProperty. Soon it was discovered that synthetic vanillin could be made from paper pulp and coal tar. In the 1880s the first synthetic vanillas came from Germany, providing a cheaper alternative to natural vanilla. Mexico’s share of the world’s vanilla supply took a nosedive, but its reputation remained intact for decades. Then the petroleum companies on the Gulf stripped the natural forests, making vanilla growing very difficult and, over time, it made the area increasingly hotter and less humid. The Mexican industry had to shut down for several years due to the war, and starting up production once the war ended, took time. Because of that, vanilla will age for two years or longer. Extracts are similar to liquor, given they are at least 70 proof. Vanilla extracts have no expiration date thanks to the high alcohol content. Why does my vanilla extract taste like alcohol?
